Test Tomorrow!

Hello Everyone!

As you (should) know, we have our first test of the year tomorrow.  We will take our Number Sense Test in class tomorrow and I imagine that you will all do quite well!  Please use your study guide and previous homework assignments to help you prepare.  You can also scroll down a bit and check out the previous posts to play games to help you prepare.

Here are the answers to the Study Guide in case you didn't have time during class to correct your work!

Expressions

Really nice job in class today!  Thanks for working so hard.  :)  As you know, we began working on writing expressions...

Your homework this evening is to complete the Writing Expressions worksheet.  Hopefully that will go quickly and make sense!  :)

As you know, we discussed the test date and we all agreed that September 29th would be the best day for our test.  You should expect a study guide tomorrow or Monday!  :)

First Quiz Today

Nice job everyone!  I was very pleased with your work.  I had hoped to return scores tomorrow, but I think we will have to wait until Thursday!  Almost done grading them!

No Homework tonight because of the quiz.

However, we have the field trip to Hammonasset tomorrow, so be sure to bring a bagged lunch (no glass) with you and wear clothes that can get a little messy.  Due to the breeze down by the water, you might want to bring a lightweight sweatshirt with you!

Tonight's homework is to complete the Pattern worksheet, but you also need to study for Tueday's quiz.  Scoop suggested that I post some games to help you practice for the quiz, so here goes!!!

Write numbers in standard form Game One  Game Two (try level three)
Write numbers in word form Game One 

Round to a given place value Game One  (you get to blow up sharks!) Game Two 

Compare numbers using < , >, or =  Two Games  Boxing Game (this one is kinda hysterical, but the math isn't exactly what we are doing- just check it out for a minute!)

Estimate to find the sum (+), difference (-), Game One  Game Two 
product (x or ∙)  Game One
and quotient (÷)

Estimating Game (multiple types and levels AND superfun)
Find the next numbers in a pattern and be able to explain the rule for the pattern  Game One

Find the next picture in a pattern

Still estimating!

Today we finally finished the estimation packet from Tuesday!  I was really pleased with the logic that you used to solve the problems on the back page.  We also completed a mad minute!  Only one more to go!  We will do the last one on either Thursday (tomorrow) or Friday.

Quite a few of you earned sparkly stickers for great work on the mini class assignment!  That's awesome!  I was pleased to see that many of you were able to begin working on the homework, estimation practice worksheet.  Just a quick hint~  #2 is NOT division!  We will do a bit more estimation and rounding to help us prepare for Tuesday's quiz, but we will also start working on patterning tomorrow!  :)

Study for the quiz on Tuesday, September 21st!

You should be able to:

To study in math, you need to complete problems to help you prepare! :)
