Hello all! Happy April Fool's Day! Thanks for not tricking me today!
As you know, we began working on our infographics today in class. The ones I showed you in class as well as some additional infographics are included in this previous post. Please click on the link to see the various pictures and watch the videos.
We will finish our infographics in class tomorrow and will include the following items in our projects:
Area of a square
Area of a rectangle
Area of a parallelogram
Area of a triangle
Area of a trapezoid
Perimeter
Area of irregular figures
If you have any questions about the assignment, please check in with me tomorrow during class to review the requirements, discuss ideas, get help being creative, etc!
As you know, we have a quiz tomorrow. In order to help you prepare, you should make a simple infographic covering the following topics:
Feel free to use a sheet of computer paper and markers/crayons/colored pencils/whatever to decorate your infographic. I will collect these prior to the quiz tomorrow, so in with your finished product!
For tonight's homework you should complete the Proportion worksheet if you didn't finish it in class. Additionally, as you know, the Infographic assignment is due tomorrow.
We will begin reviewing for Friday and Tuesday's Tests tomorrow. I hope that you have started reviewing on your own!
Thanks for all of your hard work today on your infographics. Keep up the good work! They are due on Wednesday!
We also have a two part test coming up. The test dates will be Friday, October 21st and Tuesday, October 25th. The topics include:
You should have received a purple paper with the information above during 7th period today. If not, please come see me tomorrow. We will start working on proportions tomorrow.
Have a good night and be sure to get creative with your infographics. I am available 6th and 8th period every day to work!
This weekend, you should be working on or at least thinking about your infographic project. We will have time to work on Monday, but spend some time this weekend on it too!
Here are some resources that might help you...
makebeliefscomix.com On this site you can create comics by typing in the thought bubbles. The characters can explain each process.
xtranormal.com This site allows you to create simple animations that speak out loud. Type in the script and choose each scene. I've made some of these and think that they are lots of fun!
voicethread.com Use images and video clips that you can narrate by typing or recording your voice. Teams can use this free online service to each add their own information without sitting at the same computer.
Google Docs allow you to keep a document (word doc, power point, whatever) online in the "cloud" so that you and your partner can access and change a document without working on the same computer. Go to google with a gmail account and search "more" to set up a Google Doc.
Want to make a song or video tape you working on a problem? Come talk to me about ways that we can make this work!
If you create a digital infographic- picture, powerpoint, video, etc, you can email the file to me at my school address or bring it in on a flash drive! I will take care of downloading/posting/whatever!
Any other questions or ideas? Come and see me during 6th or 8th period or talk to me during class on Monday! I can't wait to see what you all come up with.
We are going to start working on a creative assignment to share our knowledge of Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying and Dividing Fractions. As you saw in class today, I expect you to come up with a creative way of showing me that you know how to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions via an infographic.
You need to know what an infographic is, so here is a definition and a BUNCH of examples!
Click on this link to go to the interactive National Geographic map of the US made from the most common last names.
And now some that we didn't see during class:
If you would like to work with a partner on this project, just check in with me and I would be happy to discuss if that will work! This project is due on Tuesday!
I hope to see a few more hit on the blog today! I hope that you all found this easily enough! :)
Today in class we were able to make infographics about ourselves. If you were unable to finish, please finish your infographic for homework. Here's my example:
Remember that you should include your name in the center. The top left is some of your "favorites." Top right is how you feel about math. Bottom left is your hobbies and interests and the bottom right are things that are special, different or interesting about you!
I LOVE infographics! We will use them in school this year to help us review for tests and quizzes and to understand information! Keep an eye out for interesting ones that I can post on the blog!
