Blog Homework

Hey everyone!  Tonight's homework is right here!

1.  Please read all 3 steps to know what to do to complete your homework.  If you just read that, you've completed step 1.  :)

Game #1 (we've done this one before so you might want to try the others first)

Game #2 (fun but noisy)

Game #3 (some tricky ones, so be careful!)

2. Play any of these 3 games for 15 minutes TOTAL.  (That means one game for 15 minutes, or each game for 5 minutes, or one for 10 minutes and another for 5, etc.)  If none of the games work, please have an adult type person write a note letting me know that it wouldn't work and then proceed to #3.

3.  Tomorrow in class, please draw a simple star next to your name on the graded class assignment.  It doesn't need to be fancy or big, but I should be able to see it near your name.  I will know you did the homework if you do this, so please do not forget!

Have a great night!

Tonight's homework on Percent

Soooo... with our funky schedule due to our awesome assembly today, I realized that it will be difficult to get everything in during class, so tonight's homework is here.  Please READ and FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS to complete your assignment!

You may need to use a desktop or laptop for these games as many games will not work on a phone or tablet.

Play this game!

Then play this one!

Look at these infographics about population and write down 3 things that you find interesting.  Please know that some of the numbers do not match from one graphic to the other.  Most are very close, so focus on the general information rather than the exact numbers as you think about the information.

Quiz is (mostly) done!

Almost everyone finished today!  That makes me happy!  If you aren't done, we can find a time for you to finish!  tomorrow, we will start working on percents, but today we watched a short overview to get you thinking about percents.  Tonight's homework is to find percents in real life... bring in labels, ads, weather reports, etc, or take a pic for instagram for #instahomework, tonight's tag is #misskpercent

Remember, we have a quiz on Tuesday, so keep studying.  We will work on word problems in class tomorrow!

Starting to Review for our Quiz on Thursday

Today we began to review for our quiz on Thursday.

After correcting last night's probability homework, we used the people in our class to determine probability:
Then we had a competition to see who could determine the probability of picking certain items from our junk boxes.  You needed to simplify the fractions in order to get the answers correct!  Congratulations to the winners!

We practiced using our divisibility rules in a Venn diagram and circling which numbers worked:

We sorted prime and composite numbers:

We didn't review percentages in class today, but that will also be on the quiz.  You will spend some more time practicing that on Tuesday!

I will not be in school on Tuesday because I will be celebrating the Second day of Rosh Hashanah.  If you are celebrating too, I wish you a sweet New Year.  The substitute on Tuesday will have review sheets to help you prepare for the quiz, and you can work on the study guide as well.

The Study Guide is due on Wednesday.  The quiz is on Thursday.

Probability

Notes from class:

Tonight's homework is to complete both sides of the probability worksheet.  On the side with the spinners, be sure to break the double sized sections into two equal parts to make the answers accurate.  If you keep them full sized, your answers won't work.

Playing with Percents!

Today we began converting between fractions, decimals and percents.

Notes and pics from class today:

And some of the problems we did in class:

Tonight's homework is to complete worksheet 10-8, all problems.  Since we have the field trip tomorrow, the homework isn't really due until Thursday, but I suggest getting it done tonight so that you don't have to do it after the trip tomorrow.  :)

One problem on the homework, #7 is extra tricky!  Watch the tutorial video below to help you work your way through the problem!

I hope that this helps!

Reminder:  Our first quiz of the school year is next Thursday, September 20th!
