Irregular figures on a Grid

Good afternoon (or evening) ladies and gentlemen!

Tonight's homework assignment is a bit tricky, so I am including hints on how to break up each of the shapes below.  Good Luck, I hope these help!

If you want an example, we did number one in class today:

I hope this helps!

Also:  Remember that if you want to redo last night's homework, it is due tomorrow!  Here's a new copy of the assignment if you need it!

Have a good night!

Trapezoid areas!

Tonight's homework is the blue trapezoid worksheet.  Break the shapes up into a rectangle and triangle(s) and find the areas of the smaller shapes.  Add them together to find the total area!

Some examples from class:

Happy Weekend!

Quick Grid Homework

I think that everyone finished this during class, but if you didn't, please grid the six shapes, name them and find their areas!

Have a great night!

Triangles

Triangles!

We began triangles yesterday and continued today.  Tonight's homework is the area worksheet titled "More Area Problems."  I also gave you a copy of tomorrow's assignment since the day might be a little crazy with the  supplemental CMTs.  Feel free to start working on it if you have the time and patience!  We will work on it tomorrow.

Have a happy Tuesday!

-Miss K  :)

Nice Drawings today!

Have a Happy Weekend; No homework!

If you see Hunger Games, enjoy!  I plan on going this weekend too!

-Miss K  :)

She's scared, but she does it!!!

This fourth grade girl was nervous about a big new ski jump, but she did it and really celebrated after she completed it.  NEVER let your fears keep you from all that you can be or from the adventures of life!

Starting Geometry (again)

Thanks for your participation in today's discussion of Geometry and watching the Mythbusters "Lead Balloon excerpts!

In case you don't know who Led Zeppelin is (they were mentioned in the Mythbusters clip)...  Here's a picture.

There is no homework tonight and we will be getting creative tomorrow in class, so have a nice relaxing night.

If you are off to see the Midnight show of The Hunger Games, enjoy, but don't tell me ANYTHING!  I plan to see it this weekend!

-Miss K  :)

Prognosis Test Today!

I know it was difficult...

I know it wasn't fun...

I know it was confusing...

But, IT'S DONE!!!

No homework tonight!  Have a great evening!

-Miss K  :)

Monsters Inc. is all done!

I hope you enjoyed watching the movie yesterday and today!  I know that I did! (All four times!)

As you saw from the notes that went home, we will have a prognosis test tomorrow.  There isn't any studying or preparation that you need to do for this test other than come in well rested and ready to show off what you know.  If you take your time and do your best work, I will get the best picture of what your strengths are!  Use this as an opportunity to show off!  :)

(problems may be significantly harder than this one tomorrow)

Have a great afternoon and evening!  Enjoy the beautiful weather!''

-Miss K  :)

I hope that you enjoyed Part One of the Movie!

Part Two is tomorrow!  Feel free to bring a snack to munch during class!

-Miss K  :)

Benchmark and Fun

Nice job on the benchmarks today everyone!

If you enjoyed playing Red Remover, I suggest check it out on Hooda Math along with Sugar, Sugar, and the other physics games, logic games and building games that they offer!

Have a great weekend!  Monday should be a fun day! ;)

Here's a hint...  Leave your guesses in the comments!

-Miss K  :)

UPDATE:  The hint explained...  They are the actors that play Sully and Mike in Monsters, Inc.

No Homework tonight...

I hope you enjoyed Mrs. Heimer's story time!

Take the book out at the library if you were intrigued and want to read the rest!

-Miss K  :)

It's been a while...

I forgot to post on Monday and was out on Tuesday so I haven't posted in quite some time!!!

Tonight's homework is to just enjoy the day!  You may or may not know that today is Pi day, also Albert Einstein's birthday.  Click the links to learn a little bit about each of them!  We aren't doing an official Pi day activity, but I have some fun things planned for the next few days though.  You will see when you get here each day!

I'm a big fan of Albert Einstein, so here are a few quotes from this genius of a man...

He was also a goofball with awesome hair!

See...  I'm not the only mathematician with crazy frizzy hair!!!  Imagine what that would look like illuminated by the Smart Board!!!

Have a great night!  Stories in class tomorrow!

-Miss K  :)
