Nice job everyone!  Make sure that you fill out the green sheet tonight.  If you aren't finished with the packet yet due to being out sick (or just not doing your work  :{ ) please complete the packet tonight and see me at lunch to correct your packet.

Space Shuttle Discovery's last landing.

Discovery made her first launch in 1984, and made her last landing yesterday, at about noon EST on March 9th, 2011. So, to put things in perspective, it will be another two years or so before I become older thanDiscovery‘s career.

According to Wired, Discovery has:

flown 39 missions, spent a full 365 days in space, orbited the Earth 5,830 times and traveled more than of 148 million miles. It has carried 246 people into space, more than any other vehicle, including the first woman to ever pilot a spacecraft, the oldest person to fly in space, the first African-American to perform a spacewalk and the first sitting member of Congress to fly in space.

The shuttle’s 27-year career hit several of the highlights of the space program, including delivering the Hubble Space Telescope to orbit in 1990 (and fixing it twice), carrying a 77-year-old John Glenn back into space in 1998, and leading NASA’s return to space after the loss of Challenger in 1986 and Columbia in 2003.

Discovery‘s cumulative year spent in space is the longest cumulative flight time of any spacecraft in history.

Big Quiz Thing!

This weekend Miss Micciche, Mr. Augustine, Mrs. Pagliuco and I participated in The Big Quiz Thing at the Ivoryton Playhouse to benefit the Ivoryton Public Library!  Among around 150 participants in 22 teams, we were victorious and won the competition!  You probably noticed the Tee shirts that we wore to school today!  (not to mention the elephant trophy in Miss M's room!)  Here is a link to the Big Quiz Thing Blog post about us! Words with Friends!

I just downloaded the "Words with Friends" app on my droid and was wondering if any of you play?  If you haven't heard of it before, it is basically online scrabble where you can challenge and play with your friends!  If you have it, challenge me to a game!  My user name is acknan.  I hope to see you online soon!  PS- I also suggest getting "Word Up."  I love this game, basically computerized Boggle!  If you want to try the games online before you download, Words with Friends is by Zynga and Word Up is by Skunk Studios.  Look them up and go play!  (I can't access the games at school)

CMT packet!!!

So we have started working on the CMT packet and I know that you hate it!  I hope that we have been working at a pace that you feel comfortable with though.  Here's a heads up for the week on our assignments.

Monday:  Strands 1 & 2
Tuesday:  Strand 3
Wednesday:  Strand 4
Thursday:  Strands 6, 7A, & 7B
Friday:  Strands 7C & 7D
